My 2013 Beauty Favourites

1 January 2014

Last year's annual beauty favourites was a mammoth affair (read it here if you dare). This year, I've limited myself to five products which I've enjoyed using throughout the year. There are a couple of re-offenders from last year, balanced out with a few new loves too. Here we go...

I can't imagine a time that the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm wouldn't be a favourite product of mine. I've used up countless tubs of this, and have yet to find a cleanser to rival it. This is a gentle, oil based cleansing balm which smells deliciously fruity. My skin always feels blissfully soft and happy after using this.

Nars Sheer Glow has become one of my favourite foundations this year. I've yet to find a base which lasts as well on me, or gives such flawless coverage as this one. This is the most high coverage foundation I own, so it's perfect for special occasions and warmer climates.

During the second half of 2013 I rediscovered MAC products. This Fluidline in Dipdown was the first product which came to mind when I was writing my notes for this post. As I've got older, I've moved away from the heavy black eyeliner of my youth, but this subtle brown shade is much softer and effortless to wear. This is an easy to apply, long lasting gel liner which is malleable enough to use as a brow filler also. A truly versatile product which is a welcome addition to my makeup bag.

I'm sure it's not much of a shocker to see Chanel Le Vernis in Frenzy amongst my favourite products of 2013. This is a simple, chic greige polish. Although not the most long lasting, it's so neutral that I barely notice any chipping, plus the beautiful shade more than makes up for it.

Nars Belle De Jour wrapped up last weeks beauty favourites too. This is still my go-to lipstick. It's a flattering, warm peach toned nude, which is fairly sheer and definitely moisturising. I love to wear this on a day to day basis, or of an evening to finish off a smoky eye. Given the texture of this lipstick it needs reapplying quite frequently, but I've yet to find a more matte lipstick which rivals this shade.

Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2014 (and a happy birthday Mum), love Josie x

  1. I've loved MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack all year but I never thought to look at the different shades! I'll have to take a look at them next time I stop by MAC.

  15. What a great bunch of picks. I know I've been wanting to try the Emma Hardie cleansing balm for what feels like forever but I feel I cannot commit to the price without knowing more about it. Any chance you could do a review? Specifically wondering if you think it would be good to use on oily skin types? Looking forward to hearing back from you :)
